Tour Overview
Selinunte is undoubtedly one of Sicily’s most captivating archaeological sites, boasting remarkable temples that still stand proudly today! Founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC, the city was built at the top of a platform overlooking the sea. Together, we’ll explore its impressive ruins, including the Eastern Sanctuary with the remains of the Temple of Hera, the fortification wall, and the Acropolis — the highest part of the city — crowned by the magnificent Temple of Zeus. The highlight of your visit will undoubtedly be the breathtaking sea views framed by the majestic columns of the Doric temples!
Our journey continues to Mazara del Vallo, located in the southwestern corner of Sicily and one of the island’s closest points to Africa. This proximity has deeply influenced the town’s history and culture, particularly its fascinating Arab neighbourhood known as the “Casbah.” We’ll wander through its intriguing narrow streets and visit the Satiro Museum, home to one of the Mediterranean’s most exquisite Hellenistic bronze statues: the Dancing Satyr. To top off the experience, you’ll have the chance to savour the famed red shrimp, a true Sicilian delicacy!
