The charming Milazzo with private transportation

Tour overview

Milazzo is one of the most beautiful towns in the Messina area. Its promontory forms a peninsula that stretches out toward the sea, making it a site of human habitation since the Bronze Age. During the Greek domination of Sicily, Milazzo became an important colony. Today, the modern town lies at the base of a prominent rock, crowned by the fortified citadel of the 16th century, which includes the Medieval Castle. From the castle’s top terrace, you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the Gulf of Patti, the Aeolian Archipelago, and, in the background, the majestic Nebrodi Mountains and the “smoking” Mount Etna! From the castle to Cape Milazzo, you’ll encounter several ancient noble villas, many of which remain relatively undiscovered. At Cape Milazzo, don’t miss the charming Saint Anthony’s Sanctuary, perched above the bay. Built in the 16th century, this sanctuary marks the spot where Saint Anthony once found refuge. The interior is adorned with beautiful colored marble marquetry. At the tip of the cape, Nature offers one of its most breathtaking spectacles, particularly at sunset: a rocky structure forms a small saltwater pool protected by rocks, where waves gently crash. According to legend, this is the spot where Venus, the Goddess of Beauty, would dive to reclaim her purity. Since 2019, Cape Milazzo has been officially designated a protected marine area, offering several scenic natural paths and panoramic views that will take your breath away!
