Cooking Lesson with the Chef from Sicilian Food Lovers in an Ancient Villa and Visit to the Village of Cefalù with private transport

Tour overview

The Historic Residence Villa Palamara, near Cefalù, is a 15th-century structure laid out like a small village with a courtyard plan (former Benedictine monastery), enhanced by an ancient 18th-century chapel. The evocative atmosphere, created by the beauty of the coastal landscape and the site’s rich history, provides the backdrop for Sicilian cooking lessons organized by Chef Antonio Sireci in these palm-shaded spaces with a stunning panoramic view of the ancient village’s rock fortress.

Cefalù, about 70 km from Palermo, is a marvelous seaside village famous for its Arab-Norman cathedral with the “Christ Pantocrator” mosaic and its breathtaking scenery — today one of Sicily’s most visited spots. This tour takes you to discover Sicily’s cultural heritage in all its facets: history, architecture, coastal landscapes, culinary traditions, and above all, Sicilian cuisine — the undisputed star of convivial moments, celebrations, and family memories.

Itinerary

  1. Flexible meeting point: The meeting point will be as pre-arranged with the client in Messina, Palermo, Cefalù, or nearby areas, based on their specific needs. From there, we’ll head together by private vehicle to the village of Cefalù.
  2. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the fantastic views of the island’s northern coast, with the Aeolian Islands in the background, the Nebrodi Mountains, and the Madonie Mountains.
  3. Cefalù visit: Once there, we’ll visit the Norman Cathedral with its famous Christ Pantocrator mosaic. We’ll take a pleasant stroll through the village alleys to see the medieval washhouse, the picturesque tourist harbor, the remains of 16th-century fortifications, and medieval and Greek ones.
  4. Villa Palamara introduction: In the late morning, we’ll head by private vehicle to Villa Palamara, where Chef Antonio and his team will welcome us. We’ll start with a quick tour of the historic residence and the 18th-century chapel.
  5. Next comes the actual cooking lesson. The chef offers clients the choice of a private lesson or sharing the experience with other guests. The per-person price varies based on this and the number of participants for exclusive lessons. There are two types of cooking classes offered:

Hands-on Sicilian Cooking Class — Fresh Pasta & Wine

Discover Sicily through two representative dishes, like Pasta alla Norma and Sicilian Braciole. This is a hands-on leisure cooking class. The menu offers a four-course meal with seven different preparations, guiding you step by step with the chef. Highlights include Pasta alla Norma and Sicilian Braciole, two dishes that represent the true flavors of the island.

Menu: Appetizer — stuffed zucchini · First course — “Pasta alla Norma” with fresh pasta, fresh tomato sauce, and fried eggplant · Second course — “Special Braciole alla Siciliana”, pork rolls · Salad — orange and fennel salad · Dessert — “Bianco Mangiare”, lemon cream served with fruit.

Hands-on Sicilian Cooking Class — Arancini, Cannoli & Wine

A journey through the island’s most iconic ingredients and recipes. This is a hands-on leisure cooking class. The menu features five different preparations, offering an authentic journey through the flavors of Sicily, step by step, following the chef, with your own hands. Including Arancine and Cannoli, two of the island’s most famous specialties.

Menu: Appetizer — chickpea panelle · Main course — Arancine (two variations), eggplant caponata · Salad — orange and fennel salad · Dessert — Sicilian cannoli with fresh ricotta cheese.

The cost of the course includes an aperitif with a good Sicilian sparkling wine, followed by the meal with Sicilian wine (white and red), so everyone can enjoy everything they’ve prepared. After the class, participants will receive a PDF copy of the cookbook to recreate the recipes at home.

  1. At the end of the cooking lesson, we’ll return to Palermo or the pre-arranged drop-off point by private vehicle. On the way back, we’ll stop at the famous belvedere terrace for one of the most evocative views of Cefalù’s rock fortress.
